This week I have been researching the type of look and feel I want my animation to have.
Namely. The Aesthetic and the old animations that inspire my work.
The two that do are : The Jungle Book and Lion King.
The jungle book more in particular because it beautifully captures realism with cartoon animation.
The feel of the whole Movie was fun high spirited and got you dancing. I Want my work to achieve the same effect.
Below are a bunch of the pics that will show how my final product will achieve to match or surpass.

Character Analysis
Within the coming days I will begin work illustrating characters and posting them on here. So you all can get a feel for how my idea will look and feel.
I will be providing character analysis and sketches, as well as the design and storyboard for how the background will look. This is the fun part!
stay tuned

I will be putting in work for my senior thesis which should be next year.
My senior thesis will revolve around an animation short/ trailer.
Attached is my Proposal for the idea that I plan to move forward with.

Attached is my Proposal for the idea that I plan to move forward with.

Pitch Line:
To whom it may concern, I would like to animate a quick two minute short/ trailer about a Young African heir. He is selected by the village elders to contest an Evil Spirit monster that has been terrorizing the village. The members have lost their light, the spirit has taken their life energy. The very thing that makes them think, breath & be individuals. Their legacy is overshadowed and given to foreigners of a different clan. This animated short will show the process by which the conflict arises and end with a teasing clash between the two main characters at the end. It will be full of metaphors that can easily be picked up on. It is inspired mainly by the history of African Americans. Other inspirations include Lion King, Black panther and Black Excellence. Blacks overcoming the odds to be something GREAT.
If my idea is accepted, I would be able to complete the 2 minute animation by December 15th.
Synopsis:
Ko Akata is the son of the former King of the”Nndambi Village.” A warrior race of Africans with ancient egyptian ties. Everything is peaceful in this village until a group of foreigners come to try overtake them. They fail, so they decide to invoke an Evil ancient demon spirit to help them conquer the powerful warriors. The spirit goes on a rampage and succeeds, taking their essence and giving it to the foreigners, who use it for their own devices. Ko’s father is killed in the process, thus calling Ko to action. He is equipped with training by the sacred elders of the village and his hidden potential is unlocked. Will he succeed in his endeavors or will his soul be stolen and the history of his race tossed aside? That is the question.
Research:
I am continuing to research more on the topic of African gods, so I can add that aspect to my story so it makes sense. Note: This area most likely won't be explored, due to it only being a 2 minute animation. But it was explored to help me come up with the title of my animation.
Kwoth is a Sudan god of Spirits. I essentially wanted my character Ko to be seen as the King, Leader, or overseer of Spirits. Since in my story that is what he will be trying to overcome.
Inspiration:
Lion King inspired me a lot as a movie. Visually it captured most of the essence of an Abandoned African nation where animals came to the forefront.
Black Panther. The idea of a King* leading men and staying true to their culture and heritage is something I wish to portray in my work.
The audience will view my work through the a video screen on a platform most likely. And I will try to buy African cloth and props to add to my show to give the viewers of the animation short a tribal vibe. So they can feel as though they are in Africa.
My Budget will be $250.00 most likely. The props I find shouldn’t be too expensive. But $250.00 should be enough to set the scene. -The Cd-Rom where I will be downloading my animation is another thing I will be taking into account.
